A Creative Guide to Reusing Glass Jars

Like every creative mind, we at Sedas Plantekøkken like to engage in DIY projects that are also good for the environment. Reusing your glass containers will stimulate your creativity and help you reduce waste.

So take a look at our creative ideas on how to give your old nut butter jars a new life purpose, and before you toss those empty jars into the recycling bin — let’s transform them into practical treasures of your interior design.

Gather your children, your partner, or your friends around the table and enjoy some quality time while reusing your jars and crafting beautiful creations for your own home or the home of others. All you need is an afternoon to spare, a dash of creativity, and a steady hand.

Remove the labels

First things first — let’s remove the labels from the glass jars by soaking them in warm water for an hour. You will then remove the label and wash them thoroughly. Remember to dry them, too.

Storage for Jams, Sauces, or Vegetables

Our first idea is simple and quick but revolutionary for your cupboard. Our small jars are the perfect alternative storage option for your selfmade chia jam creations, homemade compote, dips, dressings, or sauces. You can customize your jars by decorating them with markers, labels, or suitable accessories before filling them.

Organizer for Seeds, Spices and Grains

Have you been dreaming of sleek and organized kitchen set-ups? Our 200g jars for rice, oats, nuts, flour, or granola will be perfectly accompanied in your pantry by our smaller jars for seeds, dried herbs and spices. Are you going on a trip? Use our 50g jars as containers for your favourite herbs and spices to enhance your meals on the go.

Meal/Dessert/Snack Prep Jar

Are you a busy bee, dashing from one meeting to another and can never find the time to eat? Or do you go out without picking a nourishing snack and regret that decision when it is too late? Then meal preparation might be a good idea for you. By preparing your meals, desserts, or snacks in good time, you will avoid getting hungry and ensure that you have the energy for the day to accomplish everything you want to.

If you have kids, we suggest you do the preparation together in a fun, creative atmosphere. Our glass jars are great for little snacks and fit in every handbag. Bring a trial mix, a chia pudding, salty pretzels, or a little fruit parfait, and keep yourself and your children happy on the go.

Decoration and Handmade Gifts

Is your friend’s birthday coming up, and you would like to give your beloved friend a personal gift? You can use your empty glass jars as a base for your creative handmade gift idea. You could make a well-put-together little candy jar of your friend’s favourite sweets. You could also plant a little flower using the glass jar as a pot if your friend is a plant lover.

Do you have an arrangement coming up? A birthday party, perhaps a friends gathering? Use your empty glass jars as a little candle or tealight holder, or place fairy lights into the jars to make lovely table decorations.
